A Room Full of Growing Windows

Room Full of Growing Windows

Liked the idea of sharing my process with you guys over the past couple of days via my Facebook page LUC Media Group. Thought I could enhance it by almost making a photo roll of the step by step process that is involved in any painting.

Layers and layers of color, shadow and highlights go into the production of this piece, managing to create the impression of depth and texture. Light balance is also extremely important. You are basically creating a photograph with paint, which generally means the lighting has to remain steady. Most artists will tell you that they will paint over the course of several days/weeks/months in order to recapture the exact lighting daily. I chose a gloomy day for this one, just to accentuate the fact that sunflowers can bring light to every room, or smile.

Hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful Summer, and winter for those of you down under!
